Last January I had no idea I would move to Barcelona 8 months later. And the January before that I had no idea I would be moving to Paris. The January before that? Could not have dreamed that my pizza business would have soared the way it did, only to crash and burn me out to such a crisp. And January 2020… well none of us could have known.
So as the first term of our master’s program was coming to an end and winter break was approaching, I could feel it again. The storm was just on the other side of January and I knew there would be so much work to be done to get through it. I knew if I worked hard like I had done the past few Januarys I could get even closer to where I’ve been pushing to get to— past burnout, back on my feet, more employed than I’d been in the years since my second 2018 eye diagnosis, aligned with myself, and with a newfound reinvigoration for life.
And all that? takes work, humility, patience…. And I could feel the storm coming ahead.
Below are some 35mm analog images from winter break— my family visiting me in Barcelona, my non-European friends and I gathering around food, etc.
ps. The storm has begun. let’s see when and where it breaks.
The photographs are so rich!! Great job!!
